Bahia del Sol at the Big Bay Extended Two More Weekends

Pilot Project of the Port’s to Enliven Waterfront Parks

Bahia del Sol at the Big Bay, a pilot program that the Port’s Land use Planning Department initiated last month in Embarcadero Marina Park North, has been extended for two more weekends in November. The originally scheduled final weekend of Bahia del Sol at the Big Bay was canceled in October because of the air quality resulting from the fires throughout the county.

Bahia del Sol at the Big Bay was created to encourage the public to enjoy Port waterfront parks. Special seating areas, games, a newspaper and magazine library, kite flying demonstrations and musical performances will again take place on November 10, 11, 17 and 18 in Embarcadero Marina Park North (see location on map below). To date, the event has been very successful, with the park receiving dozens of more visitors than before. Port staff continues to evaluate the program and may test it out at some of the other waterfront parks.

The Port of San Diego manages 16 waterfront parks around San Diego Bay. Many of the parks include children’s playgrounds and amenities such as basketball courts, baseball fields, public fishing piers and launch ramps.
