César Chávez Park Improvements Project

The Port of San Diego is seeking community input to inform the design of the next phase of improvements to the park, specifically the southeastern waterfront area of César Chávez Park, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the community experience, ensure environmental sustainability, and reflect the vibrant, local heritage and culture of Barrio Logan. This community-based design process involves engaging with stakeholders and the public to solicit feedback on the proposed designs and ensure the surrounding community is represented in the project plans.

The Port of San Diego is using a community-based design process for the project, which involves engaging with stakeholders and the public to solicit feedback, ensure the surrounding community is represented in the project plans, and build a sense of civic ownership for the future César Chávez Park.  Throughout the process topics to be discussed will include enhanced amenities, enhanced community connectivity, more opportunities for play, and more ways to gather. After the initial round of outreach, Port staff and consultants will evaluate the feedback, draft some design concepts, and share the concepts with the community for further review and input.
