The Port of San Diego Harbor Police Department is hiring! Anyone interested in a career in law enforcement, or making a switch, is invited and encouraged to attend an upcoming open house to learn more about this unique public safety agency.

WHAT: The open house will include the following:
- A presentation by the Port of San Diego Harbor Police Department and People Services Department
- Opportunity to engage with Harbor Police Officers, Dispatchers, and Community Service Officers
- Q&A with Harbor Police Officers from several specialized units
The Port of San Diego Harbor Police Department is one of the most specialized law enforcement agencies in the nation and is seen as a global leader in maritime and aviation public safety. Officers are trained to work vehicle and vessel patrol in and around San Diego Bay and at the San Diego International Airport. Officers rotate through these assignments, making it a dynamic work experience.
The Port of San Diego Harbor Police Department is a medium-sized police agency with numerous specialized teams and assignments. The agency fields a Dive Team, Maritime Tactical Team, Explosive Detection K9 Team, and has a full-time investigations unit. Port of San Diego Harbor Police Detectives work with the Maritime Task Force, Narcotics Task Force, Joint Terrorism Task Force, and Major Traffickers Task Force.
In addition to an exciting work environment, the starting salary for a Trainee is $86,529 per year and is just over $95,000 per year for Laterals. A pay increase is implemented after the Trainee successfully completes the academy. The Port also offers a competitive benefits and pension package. Starting in January 2024, health care premiums will be paid by the Port for all employees and their dependents.
