Port of San Diego Recognizes Harvey Family Foundation with Anchors of Excellence Award

The Harvey Family Foundation is the Port of San Diego’s February Anchors of Excellence awardee. The Harvey Family Foundation is honored for its dedication to local families impacted by the devastating winter storms and flooding one year ago, many of whom reside in portside communities. Port Chair Danielle Moore presented the award at the February 11 Board of Port Commissioners meeting.

"The Port of San Diego takes great pride in recognizing outstanding community members, businesses, and nonprofit organizations—like the Harvey Family Foundation—that are making a meaningful difference," said Chair Danielle Moore of the Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners. "We congratulate the Harvey Family Foundation and sincerely thank them for their ongoing commitment to supporting neighborhoods, including portside communities, as they recover from last year’s flooding."

The Harvey Family Foundation provides a variety of services to families in underserved communities around San Diego County, including community resource fairs, youth opportunities to support higher education, and food donations. Over the last year, the Harvey Family Foundation stepped in to help hundreds of families recover from last year’s devastating winter storms and flooding. To date, they have provided tens of thousands of meals, spent funds to keep people sheltered, and continue to help families repair and rebuild their water-damaged homes.

“When the community needed help the most, we didn’t hesitate to jump into action,” said Armon Harvey, Founder of the Harvey Family Foundation. “Coretta Scott King said it best, ‘The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.’”
