Port of San Diego's Lesley Nishihira Recognized as a 2024 Asian Pacific Islander Leader of Influence by the San Diego Business Journal

The Port of San Diego’s own Lesley Nishihira, Assistant Vice President of Planning, has been honored as a 2024 Asian Pacific Islander Leader of Influence by the San Diego Business Journal. This prestigious recognition celebrates Nishihira's exceptional leadership, dedication, and significant contributions to the community and the field of land use planning.
With a remarkable career spanning over 25 years, Nishihira is an integral part of the Port of San Diego. In her role as Assistant Vice President of Planning, she is responsible for managing master planning, environment and sustainability policy initiatives for land and water areas around San Diego Bay. Her expertise includes ensuring compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act and the California Coastal Act, and managing notable regional projects such as the Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan and San Diego Convention Center Phase III Expansion.
Currently, Nishihira is leading the widely acclaimed Port Master Plan Update, the first comprehensive update of the Port's master plan, which will set policy guidance for all future development along the waterfront. Her leadership and commitment to meaningful community engagement and transparency has greatly enhanced regional planning processes, leading to more positive outcomes for the region.
